Ivan Megharoopan Lyrics
Ivan Megharoopan Malayalam Symposium
A mind that learned the nooks and
crannies of poetry at a young age, he soon knew restlessness and
started to wander looking for his muse – his poetic deity. In his
parallel universe he is insulated from the mundane realities of the real
world, in an unending quest that is inundated with tributes and awards.
The
film that was recently screened at the Sulochana Auditorium marks the
directorial debut of scriptwriter, P. Balachandran who has in the past
shined with his contributions like “Ulladakam” and “Uncle Bun”. Prakash
Bare plays protagonist K.P. Madhavan Nair with disarming simplicity, and
Padmapriya swings with ease from the graceful muse that inspired him to
a bitter, disillusioned wife.
Illustrations
by Prakash Moorthy have been deftly spliced into the film, and takes
interaction that rests primarily between the characters and the audience
to a whole different level, one that demands interpretation.
The
rustic scenery acts as foil to the lilting poetry that becomes the
leitmotif of the film. The poet looks for his answer in travel,
ideology, women and marriage. The music of the movie is the effort of
music director Sharreth and it deserves to be recognised as an
independent character and not just an accessory, one which contributes
to the mood and voice of the film by acting and reacting in appropriate
measure.
In fact Universal music has stepped into the regional music market with this film.
“Ande
Londe” is a turning point in the film, where the audience is introduced
to poetry the way the poet sees it in the sensuality of the songstress
and her voice. The crackling chemistry of the couple rides entirely on
the Kavalan Narayana Panicker's lyrics and Remya Nambeesan's voice.
ONV
Kurup is responsible for the songs Nishasurabhi, rendered by Shwetha
Mohan and Anuragini which has been immortalised by K.J. Yesudas. The
songs are accompanied by visuals that take your hand and guide you into a
world that is coloured in muted shades of the past.
